Mohamed Salah gives Egypt hope for World Cup with news over injury

“Once we knew the injury we planned the treatment, he is sad about what happened but he is totally focused on recovery and seeing when he can be ready. He is going to mark the recovery times, in principle it will be from three to four weeks but we are going to try to reduce those deadlines, that’s the big goal.”

Salah jetted out to Spain for treatment on Sunday with the Egyptian federation confirming the 25-year-old was in "high spirits" and "determined to return quickly to the ranks of the team".

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will be fit to feature in the World Cup group stages, according to the Egyptian Football Association.

The forward looked unlikely to play any part in the summer tournament after sustaining a shoulder injury in the first half of Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday night before leaving the field in tears.

Mohamed Salah and Sergio Ramos could be reunited as soon as next month should the Liverpool forward recover from injury in time to play at the World Cup.

The Egyptian Football Federation are confident that Salah's injury - the product of a tussle with Ramos - is only going to keep him out for three-to-four weeks and that timescale would see him likely miss just the Pharoahs' opening group game against Group A favourites Uruguay.
